GENERAL SURGERY
Gall Bladder Surgery
Gallstones are a very common problem. Symptomatic gallstones are treated with removal of the gallbladder (Cholecystectomy). This is usually done laparoscopically (key hole surgery). The bile duct is also examined to detect if any gallstones have fallen out of the gall bladder.
Hernia Surgery
A hernia is a protrusion of bowel or other abdominal contents through a weakness in the abdominal wall. Common sites include the groin (inguinal hernia), umbilicus and previous incision. Treatment by reduction of the hernia and placement of mesh will provide a strong repair. This repair can be done laparoscopically or using an open technique. Which operation is chosen depends on many factors, including but not limited to
- previous operations
- size and type of hernia
- patient wishes and
- medical comorbidities
